Two beautiful little families, these girls are two mums with their four daughters. Given up for adoption while pregnant the babies were born at an RSPCA centre and we were super lucky to be able to offer them all a home together.

Who knows what will happen when you plan to add little rats to your family. We headed out with thoughts of a pair of cuddly boys and came home with four little girls. Three blue one black these girls are as sweet as they are beautiful.

Every time we popped into our local pet store these little girls were huddled up in the adoption centre. After 4 weeks of hoping someone would take them, we gave in and were rewarded with the most loving and playful little friends.

These guys started out as three rats, which very quickly turned into six. A little unplanned these boys are gentle and sweet ratties, who don't really do much except share our breakfast and dinner with us.

Lovingly known as 'The Twiglets' these super cute Agouti girls came from a local breeder. Almost identical and a bit on the shy side, they were soon joined by two little pet shop rats, who taught them what fun and mischief was.

While picking up our other little rats, Tula & Tilly, we caught sight of these handsome, rather large fully grown boys. I tried to resist, honest, but the next day we popped back and three cuddly boys joined the family.

We popped into the pet shop 'for supplies' and caught GMR (get more rats). In our defence Tula and Tilly were just too cute to resist. After only one short year with our darling Tula, we took extra special care of Tilly and spoilt her to bits.

When we adopted Daisy and her daughters we'd met her three sons, but didn't feel able to offer them a home at that time. That feeling didn't last long and a few weeks later we headed back and adopted the rest of the family.

A pair of shy and slightly chubby boys we adopted from the RSPCA. These poor little fellows had been waiting for over four months to be adopted and we were thrilled to be able to give them a loving home.

Twix's first family didn't care for him properly and abandoned him in a stinky hamster cage. We adopted him knowing he'd need lots of love and patience, in return he blossomed into one of the most handsome and loving rats we've known.

Toffee was not coping very well on his own after the loss of his two brothers. So, we popped down our local RSPCA and came back with two cuddly friends for him. Three black hooded rats, it's as though they were made for each other.

This little girls arrival turned into a bit of a drama, fortunately she was such a brave little girl and everything turned out all right. Not on her own for long, our beautiful Petal was soon joined by a mum and her two daughters.

These two quiet little boys were incredibly gentle and loving. Welcoming our little guy Minty into their home after the sad loss of his brother, Rummy. Then a lonely little Toffee found a new family in two chubby boys who needed a home.

These two boy rats came to us from the RSPCA. Sadly little Rummy was very poorly and was only with us for one short week. Luckily Minty was welcomed by our other boys, Toffee and Carmel and his story continues with them.

These two beautiful little ratties were our first female rats, and they showed us just how different they could be to boys. Living in our dining room, Pipsie a Chockie made meal times a lot of fun and rather messy!

Our cuddly little chap, Crumble, taught us what a 'Rex rat' was - he wasn't just scruffy as we first thought! His gentle friend Silky was his complete opposite in fur as well as temperament, still they loved each other dearly, as did we.

First came Misty and then, as we'd learned rats need companionship, the troublesome Dusty and Smarty. Misty wasn't always impressed with his younger friends, still they shared many a silly adventure together.

Crunchie was our very first rat. He was the most amazing little friend, and incredibly forgiving of our inexperience of keeping a rat. He taught us so much about what wonderful companions rats are and every rat we've known since are in his honour.
